As of February 2021, My Green Story have planted 24,200 mangrove trees at the creek in conjunction with our partner organization; Big Ship. At just 100/= per tree, you can contribute to our long-term goal of planting 1.5 million mangrove trees across 1050 acres.
Mangroves are essential biological filters as they contribute to 7 times the carbon sequestration and storage compared to a terrestrial forest. Moreover, mangrove plantations provide livelihoods to adjacent communities in terms of fishing grounds, beehive farming as well as coastal tourism. As such, bee keeping and material recycling are also undertaken at our mangrove site and there is a material recovery center that collects and recycles waste resources from both, the creek as well as households.
